Westinghouse Semiconductor Memories

Do you remember?

The Semiconductor Division moved to Youngwood, PA sometime in the late 1950s. From that time, until Powerex was formed in early 1986, many people contributed to the effort to make Youngwood, the “Power Semiconductor Capital of the World.” It wasn’t always easy and it wasn’t always successful, but the friendships and experiences will always be treasured by those of us who worked there and in field sales.

Many of the alumni are now retired and some passed away. But perhaps some of us want to share the memories and remember the good old days.

The goal of this website is to create a living photo album and memoir that can be changed and expanded as you contribute new material, either in the form of photos or written thoughts.

Your contributions are welcome. Please send your comments to me as MS WORD or e-mail text. Photos should be in *.jpg format or if you mail them to me, I can scan them and return the paper originals to you. Eventually, we may be able to post other historic documents in *pdf form. Send your information to me at w3hwj@arrl.net Here is an old "Tech-Tip" written by Jerry Sherbondy, Sr. and me back in the Pow-R-Blok days.
